Welcome to the beautiful northeastern Sierras of California. Wildlife Charters offers Guided Fishing and Charter Boat operations until the Lakes freeze solid and as soon as we can get in the water in the spring. (Exclusive Hunting is also provided on Private Land in Zone X6B, and Zone A 12 on a very limited basis). Everything you need is provided on guided fishing trips where all you have to bring is a lunch, weather appropriate clothing, fishing license, a good hat, and a desire to have fun. Whether you are an avid outdoor type, or someone who just wants to escape the hustle and bustle of the big cities, take a scenic tour, or enjoy a day of photography, come up and enjoy our majestic mountains and beautiful lakes, and most important, take a breath of clean, fresh air.
Lake Davis, also commonly referred to as Davis Lake, is the primary lake with options of Frenchman Lake and Gold Lake.
We are located near Portola Calif, in eastern Plumas County.
Beckwourth Nervino Airport is only ten minutes away.
Lake Davis is approximately 40 miles north/west of Reno NV and a comfortable three hour drive from the Sacramento Valley.
Your Charter Fishing Guide is Larry Goldsmith who has been fishing these waters since the Lakes were created in the early 60's. He became a licensed fishing guide in 2003 and is bonded with the Dept of Fish and Game.
His boat, the WILD LIFE, is a 20' hardtop enclosed by glass. It can be fully enclosed and heated for fishing in harsher weather conditions. As a guide,he uses Lamiglas fishing rods and AbuGarcia fishing reels. Most of the Fishing Tackle and Equipment is from Cabela's.
LAKE DAVIS UPDATE
May 3rd, Fishing is GOOD! Fish are heavy and full of fight all the way to the boat! Most fish are being caught in the 12-20' depth on Dic Nites, Red Spotted Frogs and Sockeye Slammers in the firetiger pattern. Water temperature is in the mid 50's. The Boat docks are in and operational at Honker Cove and at Lightning Tree Ramps. The Lake level is about 80 Percent full right now. The trout are moving up the streams in the spawning mode. Fly fishing has been very good near the inlets with everyone cooperating with the 'catch and release' agenda during the spawning.
